Time to say thank you with a *giveaway*…

Good morning, dear readers!  I love the fact that you search me out from all over the world.  The statistics board reads like a travel brochure and I wonder about each of you.  Many of you are living in places I’ll only dream of visiting, but how I wish I could.  Hopefully, the year 2011 will find us traveling to Ireland (the land of my Mother’s ancestors) and Scotland (the land of my Father’s ancestors).  Oh, but that leaves so many other places I want to visit…places from which you read my blog each day…and I’m glad you do.

So, it’s way past time for another *giveaway*!  It’s my way of saying Thank You for showing up each morning.  There are actually TWO items which I am giving away and here’s how you enter:

idreamedadreamcover72First, is Susan Boyle’s debut album “I Dreamed A Dream”!   If you haven’t heard about it already, then just check out the clips from her album  here on Susan’s official site and tell me which of the songs you think will be your favorite!  Maybe you already know…

Her album is to be released on November 24 here in the United States, and I can’t wait!

The second *giveaway* is a wonderful book entitled The Sound of Sleigh Bells by Cindy Woodsmall, author of the New York Times bestselling When The Soul Mends.  This book tells the captivating story of two guarded hearts, the letters that unlock their secrets and the surprise of healing grace…within a wonderful Amish setting.

Do you enjoy Amish stories?  To enter, just tell me why…

That’s all there is to it…just click on the word comments just below this post and leave your comments.  Be sure to fill in the email address (will NOT be made public) and your name.  You can enter for each of these, but you’ll only win one…so there will be TWO winners!  Does this make sense?

The winners will be drawn one week from today on November 17!  So, take a moment now and enter!  Hopefully, you’ll be glad you did.

Blessings,

Dianne

  • Debbie:

Amish stories are usually wholesome and I like that.

  • Shawna:

    Hi Dianne,
Although I have never personally read any books about the Amish or stories about them, I have watched many documentaries on this subject on television! I love the Amish way of life and would very much appreciate being entered into the drawing for this book.
Oh and by the way, I LOVE the pictures from your front porch. We recently drove through Oregon on our way to Washington and then back to Kansas, and it was a very pretty drive indeed!
    Thanks,
    Shawna

  • I haven’t read many Amish books but I do love to read and I also admire the Amish for their hard work and family values.

    Great prizes!

Thanks so much for the chance to win!

  • Hi Dianne, although I don’t stop by every morning, I would still love to enter if I could.

For the beautiful Susan Boyle’s new CD, I went to listen to her amazing voice and here are my thoughts for my favorite song:

Wild Horses’ reminds me of my high school days with my friends and of course the Rolling Stones… She sings this so beautifully, it makes me want to close my eyes and reflect upon so much beauty in the world. It makes me want to get down on my knees and pray. It could very easily make me cry.

I Dreamed A Dream’ reminds me of being in a wonderful theatre and hearing this live, and wanting to put my hands up

Cry Me a River’ is so classy and bluesy, I can imagine sitting in a candle lit plush hotel lounge decorated in dreamy red velvet, with a long rounded mahogany bar, just like the one they have in downtown Charleston.

How Great Thou Art’ reminds me of being back home, and being in Church with my Momma and Daddy with a bright Christmas Tree all lit up.

You’ll See’ reminds me of being out on a sunset boat ride, with the sea breeze gently blowing my hair about…

Daydream Believer reminds me of being back in High School and laughing with my friends. and making sure I’m not late for my next class.

Up to the Mountain – oh that reminds me of all the wonderful working Mom’s out there trying to make ends meet.

Amazing Grace’ always reminds me of my Gramma’s and the Tennessee mountains, plus so many other memories..

Who I Was Born To Be – reminds me of happy times, with tears of joy running down my face and makes my heart feel so huge

Proud’ reminds me of relationships and love and hope

The End of the World’ reminds me of relationships too and being a little girl

Silent Night’ puts a smile on my face and reminds me of Christmas as a child and wishing I could snap my fingers and be there again, if only for a little while

Every song is an amazing work of art, and as if Angels are singing in my heart. So it’s so very hard to pick just one, but I guess I would have to say Wild Horses.

For the book: The Amish are such wonderful people, so simple but so refined too. I grew up just about an hour away from an Amish Community, so we knew quite a bit about them. We loved the quilts, the homemade breads, the apple butter and the wonderful meals and furniture they made. I love their horse and buggies too and their way of life. We could all learn so much from them!

Guess I wrote a book here myself. Guess I’m feeling quite a bit nostalic tonight!

  • ooops that’s nostalgic

  • I love a love story and I would find an amish love story beautiful to read.

  • I just love Susan Boyle’s I dream a little Dream and Cry me a River…I just found out the other day that she has an album coming out I believe on NOV 25th…can’t wait..

I love the Amish people…I used to live near the Amish in Missouri and drove them places…their children are so well brought up and it always amazed me when they know both German and English at such a young age…they are powerful familes in structure…

I love the song Wild Horses, I never heard it before. I saw her sing on Dancing with the Stars last night, she looked very pretty and sang wonderfully. I would love to get her album. Micki

  • CC:

Like Susan Boyle, LOVE Amish stories. I think it is the simplicity of the Amish lifestyle…in this crazy world the idea of a simple life has such a pull, even if I’m just reading about it.

PS, I LOVE the version of Be Thou My Vision on your player.

  • Janet:

Dianne, these are great giveaways! I’d be happy to win either. I have already had Susan Boyle’s CD on my wish list. It’s hard to pick one song. I like the power and emotion of “I Dreamed a Dream,” but I also enjoy her version of “Wild Horses.” And the others sound promising as well. The Amish book looks like it would be enjoyable, too. I think the appeal of stories about the Amish is the appeal of a simpler way of life that most people in our culture have abandonned. However, human nature is the same, regardless of culture, so we can relate to the characters, even though they have a different lifestyle. Thanks for doing this giveaway!

  • GranSue:

I don’t need to say anything about how much I love anything Susan Boyle sings. I am planning to be one of the first to pick up my copy. Love all the songs.

The amish. Peaceful, kind, considerate, nice, thoughtful. Very easy to describe when there are people still around like that. I haven’t read a book concerning the Amish in a long time, but the subject makes me immediately feel less stressed. In fact, any book I pick up to read takes the stress away. My life has gotten complicated in the last six months and reading puts me back where I should be.

Dianne, thought of you last night when I came across your Zucchinni pineapple recipe. Haven’t made it yet, but I left it out and am going to make it up this week. We live on the Taco Soup. The best.

Love your soothing music here and reading.

    Thanks for your blog.

  • Angelica:

    Dianne,
I would be honored to be entered in both of your giveaways. I too would be happy to win either one :)

My favorite song from Susuan Boyle is How Great Thou Art. It has always been one of my special somgs. But when I hear Susan sing it, it gives me goose bumps! She has such a beautiful, clear voice that touches the heavens.

I would love to read the Amish book, because I adore reading about them. I find their simpler way of life enticing and a great strss reducer in our hectic world.

Thank you Dianne for the oppertunity to share our thoughts and feelings with others from around the world. You are a sweetheart to do these giveaways!
    Thank you and God Bless!
    Angelica
