A birthday wish…

melinajeniferI’ve mentioned before that my older son is a missionary doctor in Peru.  He and his family have been there for six years now.  For a grandmother, that’s six LONG years.  I’m proud of him and the amazing work that he is doing there, but I still miss him and his precious family.  I love the days when the phone rings and I hear a sweet voice on the other end saying “Hi, Grandmommy!”…all the way from Peru.  I especially love the days when the computer “rings” and it’s my grandchildren calling on Skype.  I can actually see them…sorta’.  Some days the skies are not so clear and they look a little fuzzy, but I know they’re on the other end.  What joy…

I had the wonderful privilege of spending three weeks in Peru last April.  I fell in love with the people there – especially the children.  As I’ve told you before, the family who live behind my son and his family have adopted me as “grandmother”; and they’ve given me the awesome privilege of being the “Madrina” or godmother of their new twins.

The need is so great for the children of Peru. There is a special place in Cusco which is trying to meet some of these needs.  It is called Josephine House and is a home for children in Cusco, Peru, where babies born into difficult situations of alcohol abuse, physical abuse, extreme poverty, and abandonment can find a place of safety.    My next trip to Cusco, I would like to visit Josephine House and spend some time with the children there.

On the first day of December, I will have my 64th birthday.  I have made a special birthday wish through Causes on Facebook to raise much needed funds for Josephine House.  My goal of $100 is very small I know, but ANY amount will help these children; and if I can raise more than that, I will be thrilled!  All you have to do to help - through a small or large donation - is click on the link ”My Birthday Wish” below.

Blessings to you and thank you!

My birthday wish…

Note:  The photo above is of Melina…the daughter of my son’s neighbor.  As extremely poor as her family is, she does have parents who love her and try to provide for her.  Josephine House cares for children who do not have this love and care.  Melina adopted me as her grandmother when I was in Peru and I was thrilled to be her grandmother…
